The Depot at Sand Creek Ranch

The renovation of The Depot at Sand Creek was a lot like a love story. Its current owners took one look at it and knew it was yearning for them to give it a new life.  But it was while sitting on the Depot’s expansive deck, looking out over a breathtaking canyon, that the now-owners realized their heart rates had immediately dropped.  So, it seems, they were yearning for it as well.

The old train station had been through several decades of abandonment, which had left it in extreme disrepair and inhabited by a wide range of South Plains wildlife. (yes,  including rattlesnakes!)

But the potential for a fabulous weekend get-away was there.  The structure’s original fixtures, like sliding freight doors with their original turquoise paint, wood floors, iron hardware, wood baluster, a ticket counter and antique glass window panes were mingled together with mid-century pieces and a collection of memorabilia from the days of train travel and The American West.

Because the owners so lovingly brought life back to The Depot, it now offers them a place for happy repose.
